But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika (Pinto), the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show¹s questions.

Each chapter of Jamal¹s increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show¹s seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show?

When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out.

Here are some of their marketing materials.

Film trailers are considered to be one of the most important marketing strategies for the film. The main purpose of the film trailer is to aware about the film which is going to be released soon in the near future. When we go the cinemas to watch any movie before the film starts we saw many movie trailers one by one especially those movies whose marketing has not yet been started. The main aim for this is to create hype and the excitement among the viewers for the upcoming movies. Basically trailers are considered to be the short film advertisement of new films. It gives hint about the story line, casting stars and the location of the movie.

A film poster is a poster used to advertise a film There may be several versions for one film, with variations in regards to size, content and country of production of the poster. It usually contains an image with text, though this has evolved over time from image-free bill posters through to the highly visual digital productions of today. The text usually contains the film title in large lettering and often the names of the main actors. It may also include a tag line the name of the director, names of characters, the release date, etc.

The film was projected to cost US$15 million, so Celador sought a U.S. distributor to share costs. Fox serachlight pictures made an initial offer that was reportedly in the $2 million range, but Warner independent pictures made a $5 million offer to win rights to the picture.

In August 2007, Waner independent pictures acquired the North American rights and pathe the international rights to distribute Slumdog Millionaire theatrically. However, in May 2008, Warner Independent Pictures was shut down, with all of its projects being transferred to Warner bros its parent studio. Warner Bros. doubted the commercial prospects of Slumdog Millionaire and suggested that it would go straight to DVD without a U.S. theatrical release. In August 2008, the studio began searching for buyers for various productions, to relieve its overload of end-of-the-year films. Halfway through the month, Warner Bros. entered into a pact with Fox searchlight to share distribution of the film, with Fox Searchlight buying 50% of Warner Bros.'s interest in the movie and handling U.S. distribution.

Following the film's success at the 81st Academy Awards the film topped the worldwide box office (barring North America), grossing $16 million from 34 markets in the week following the Academy Awards. Worldwide, the film has currently grossed over $377 million.
